1886 - Coca-Cola, a drink created by Dr. John Pemberton, goes on sale for the first time.
When Atlanta and Fulton County enacted alcohol prohibition, Pemberton responded by developing Coca-Cola, a "temperance drink" that was well received by many people, as the anti-alcohol movement had widespread support at the time.
The drink was sold as a patent medicine. Pemberton claimed it was a remedy for a variety of ailments, including morphine addiction, stomach disorders, nervous disorders, headaches and impotence.
Now the original recipe has been deliberately changed and forgotten, and Cola is just colored, over-sweetened water, which does nothing but harm.
